LUMBERTON — Bill French, director of Emergency Services for the city of Lumberton, recently earned the Emergency Number Professional certification from the National Emergency Number Association.
The certification establishes benchmarks of performance that signify a broad-based competence of the knowledge needed for emergency number program management. It also establishes a standard of competence recognized by the 911 profession, government agencies, the business community and the general public. Currently there are ENPs in only 30 North Carolina counties.
According to the association’s website, the National Emergency Number Association serves its members and the greater public safety community as the only professional organization solely focused on 9-1-1 policy, technology, operations, and education issues. With more than 12,000 members in 48 chapters across the United States and around the globe, it promotes the implementation and awareness of 9-1-1, as well as international three-digit emergency communications systems.
