The cold and rain put a damper on Empty Stocking Fund collections on Friday as folks didn’t want to get out in the miserable weather.
The forecast is for sunny skies on Monday, so no excuses. We need a rush of donations as the Fund is dragging when compared with last year.
There are five new gifts to report today, which add $400, pushing the Fund to $15,725.
All 56 gifts that have been donated so far this year have been for at least $50, which means each has earned a $50 match, so there is $2,800 in the Fund that has yet to be reported.
There are 1,950 children qualified to receive help from the Fund.
Checks can be mailed to the Empty Stocking Fund, 2175 Roberts Ave., Lumberton, N.C., 28358, or a donation can be delivered in person. As in the past, we will publish photographs with gifts of $500 or more when that request is made. To give yourself the best chance of that photograph appearing on page 1A, get your donation in early.
The vouchers can be redeemed at Roses, either the Lumberton store or the one in Fairmont.
