LUMBERTON — To the list of casualties from Hurricane Florence now includes two polling sites that were to be used for the Nov. 6 general election.
Fallout from the hurricane means that voters in the precincts of North Pembroke and Lumberton 11A, which is Clybourn Pines, will not be able to use their traditional voting sites, said Tina Bledsoe, interim director of the Robeson County Board of Elections.
North Pembroke voters will cast their ballots at the Pembroke Rural Volunteer Fire Department, which is located at 1398 Prospect Road. Normally the voters cast ballots at the Indian Education Center, but it suffered extensive damage, including to its roof, during the hurricane.
Voters in Lumberton 11A will cast their ballots at the National Guard Armory, which is located at 4502 Fayetteville Road. They normally vote at the Lumbee Tribe’s Soaring Eagle Tribal Building, but it is being used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a disaster recovery center.
