If you are looking for a spooky read, then the Robeson County Public Library has you covered this Halloween.

From Stephen King to Lisa Gardener, Agatha Christie to Lee Child, the library is your one-stop shop for mysteries, thrillers, suspense and more.

Not sure what to read next? Let B.A. Paris take you on a suspenseful journey in “Bring Me Back,” get frightened by Jeremy De Quidt’s young adult book “The Wrong Train,” or figure out a mystery in “The Disappeared” by C.J. Box. Our staff is always available to help you find your next favorite author or book. We love to recommend books that we’ve enjoyed, and we look forward to hearing about the books you have read.

Stop in at any of our locations and check out our DVD collection, too. It’s great for hosting a movie night and you can check out up to five DVDs per adult card.

While you’re checking out our book and DVD collections, why not attend one of our upcoming programs? On Tuesday at 6 p.m., the one-man show, “A Life of Sorrow, the Life and Times of Carter Stanley,” will be performed by Virginia actor Gary Reid. The performance incorporates a mixture of storytelling and music. This event is free for all ages to attend.

Our Youth Services Department is getting ready for a fun week of programming. We hope all children ages 4 to 12 will join us on Wednesday for Lego Club from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Wear your costume and make a Lego creation before trick-or-treat begins. STEM Club, for children ages 8 to 12, will meet Friday from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

The popular Birds of Prey returns for a program at the Pembroke Public Library on Friday at 10 a.m. Birds will fly at this exciting live show put on by Hawk Manor Falconry of Lillington.

Storytimes are offered throughout the week at several of our locations. Please check the youth services calendar on our website, www.robesoncountylibrary.org, for locations and times. Our newest youth services program, Youngster Yoga, is every Thursday at 10 a.m. in Lumberton. Saturday Stories is held in Lumberton at 10 a.m. For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at 910-738-4859, Ext. 310.

We are happy to have our schools back open and patrons returning to the library after Hurricane Florence’s strike. We encourage anyone who has lost or damaged materials to come and see us. Any replacement costs for lost or damaged materials that were due between Aug. 22 and Sept. 28 will be waived.

Whether you’re looking for a new book to read or attending a program, we look forward to seeing you at the library this week.
