LUMBERTON — Robeson County residents will have to wait to find out who will represent them in the U.S. House as the District 9 representative.
Mark Harris, a Republican, and Dan McCready, a Democrat, were locked in a too-close-to-call election at press time for this newspaper.
With one precinct left to count, Harris had a lead of just under 2,000 votes out of about 274,000 ballots, but there still were absentee ballots to be counted. Robeson County easily favored McCready, by a margin of 56 percent to 41 percent. Libertarian Jeff Scott rounded out the field.
The winner replaces Robert Pittenger, a Republican whom Harris defeated in May.
