PEMBROKE — The Hardee’s franchise here has risen from the ashes.

The restaurant at 317 W. Third St. re-opened for business at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. It had been closed for 11 months after being destroyed by flames.

“The new location will provide Pembroke residents with an innovative and affordable menu featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner and specialty options,” a company news release reads in part.

The eatery was the victim of two fires on Jan. 5. Flames erupted in the restaurant about 2:15 p.m. that day. Firefighters responded and declared the flames extinguished about 90 minutes later.

Firefighters from multiple area fire departments were called to the restuarant about 4:15 p.m. after a second fire erupted. The inside of the restaurant was destroyed and firefighters were forced to knock holes in the roof to extinguish the blaze.
