LUMBERTON — City police are asking the public’s help in identifying two men they believe might be helpful in the arrest of a gunman who robbed a convenience store last week.
Police have released photos of the two men taken by a survellience camera and say the men are not considered suspects in the crime. The Minuteman No. 38 at 1755 Roberts Ave. was robbed by the gunman at about 5 a.m. on Jan. 18.
According to a statement by Capt. Terry Parker, the two men were seen in the store minutes before the robbery, entering and doing business and then leaving the store. Police believe the men might have seen the gunman at some point.
Anyone with information, including the two men themselves, is asked to call Detective Paula McMillan at 910-671-3845.
The robber wore a mask and escaped in a 2005 burgundy Ford 500 with North Carolina license plate BJP-5764 that he stole from an employee.
The robber was described as a black man, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall to 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighing 160 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a white long-sleeve shirt with a black T-shirt over it, black pants and black tennis shoes with white laces. He had a white bandana over his face and wore a black toboggan. He displayed a handgun.
