LUMBERTON — The Sheriff’s Office is investigating two incidents in which brothers allegedly got into a violent confrontation, including one that has led to an arrest and left a man in critical condition.

Kinno Thakur Locklear, 40, of Lumbee Avenue in Lumberton, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury, according to a statement from sheriff’s Maj. Damien McLean. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond.

The statement said that at 12:09 p.m. Monday deputies responded to a call on the 300 block of Lumbee Avenue and found 38-year-old Christopher Locklear in the roadway bleeding from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital and was in critical condition.

The statement said the dispute was over the use of their mother’s vehicle.

In the other incident, which occurred on Saturday at 11:48 p.m., Donald Jackson, 60, was shot in the leg during a dispute with his brother on the 200 block of Asberry Road in St. Pauls, according to McLean. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital.

The statement said alcohol is believed to have been a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
