LUMBERTON — There are still slots remaining in the Robeson County Pre-Kindergarten Program for the upcoming school year.
The program, administered locally by the Partnership of Children, is free for eligible children who are 4 years old and intended to prepare them for school.
Program standards are built on the National Education Goals Panel’s premise that to be successful academically in school, children need to be prepared in all five of the developmental domains that are critical to children’s overall well-being and success in reading and math: approaches to play and learning; emotional and social development; health and physical development; language development and communication; and cognitive development.
Children must be 4 years old before Aug. 31 to participate. Transportation is provided at some sites if needed. Slots are available at private child care facilities, head start programs, and public school sites across the county.
