LUMBERTON — A day of family fun that also aims to raise money to benefit Robeson Community College has been scheduled for Aug. 26.
The Robeson Community College Alumni Association’s Summer Fest, which will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature a kid zone, DJ Kev, vendors, motorcycles, the South Robeson High School JROTC and free hot dogs until they run out. Money raised from the event will benefit student scholarships and the Robeson Community College Foundation.
The running of the Alumni Association’s 5K Tour de Campus also will be Aug. 26. Registration will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. The race starts at 8 a.m. and will follow a 3.1-mile course around RCC. There are seven age groups that cover people ages 14 and up. Awards will be presented to the top three female and male finishers in each age category and to the first overall male and female finishers.
The 5K registration fees are $15 for early registration, $20 same-day and $10 for RCC students and alumni. The early registration deadline is Monday.
