LUMBERTON — A manhunt for two people suspected of an armed robbery in Bladenboro ended in the Allenton area late Fridday afternoon with both of their arrests, according to Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.
Sealey did not have their names, but said one was arrested immediately following a high-speed chase from Bladenboro involving that town’s police that ended near Antioch Baptist Church on Old Whiteville Road. The second was arrested about an hour later after dogs were brought in.
They are accused of using weapons to rob the Fresh Foods IGA in Bladenboro.
Sealey said Bladenboro and Lumberton police, and Bladen, Brunswick and Robeson sheriff’s deputies were involved in the apprehension. He did not have the suspects’ names or what they were charged with. Attempts to reach Bladenboro Police Chief Chris Hunt to get that information we unsuccessful.
A private school in the area had to be put on lockdown during the search.
