LUMBER BRIDGE — Two people were killed and two were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday.
According to a report by state Highway Patrol Trooper J.M Bullard, Stacy Jacobs, 19, of Rennert Road in Shannon, and Sam Collins, 37, of Tweety Lane in Shannon, were killed in the accident on Russell Road that happened at 6:35 p.m. about four miles south of Lumber Bridge.
According to the report, the accident happened when Jacobs, who was driving a 2000 Dodge SUV west on the highway, “rammed” a 1999 Toyota pickup while trying to pass it. The contact forced the Toyota off the road and it struck a tree, injuring its driver, 56-year-old Steven Lindsay, of Parkton, and Edward Wilson, 33, of Shannon.
Both were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
After the contact, the Dodge exited the road, overturned and struck a mobile home. Collins, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected.
None of the four people in the two vehicles was wearing a seat belt. Both vehicles were destroyed. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.
