LUMBERTON — Six boys soccer players were honored on the all-conference team for the Sandhills Athletic Conference the league announced on Friday.
Among the six, goalkeepers from Purnell Swett and Lumberton were honored as the top two players between the pipes this season. The Rams’ Nick Ramirez and Lumberton’s Joan Carillo were honored alongside two other teammates on the all-conference list.
The Pirates (10-11-1) sent seniors Josh Britt and Quinton Frederick to the all-conference team. Britt scored nine goals this season as a forward for Lumberton, while Frederick added five goals as he saw time at the midfield and the defensive side of the ball this year.
Carillo posted two shutouts during his senior season.
Ramirez posted a solid junior campaign in goal for the Rams (5-12-2) as he allowed 33 goals in over 1,500 minutes. He recorded 178 saves, including four in penalty kick situations. Joining him on the all-conference list were sophomore Jafet Robles and senior Pacey Brooks.
Robles had a team-high nine goals and seven assists this season, while Brooks anchored down the defense for the Rams.
Pinecrest’s Jasper Ardinger was named the conference Player of the Year, while Hokes’ Colin McDavid was named Coach of the Year.
