Opera house to present novel turned stageplay

WILMINGTON — The Opera House Theatre Company will be presenting the musical “Peter and the Starcatcher” at Thalian Hall in Wilmington today and this coming weekend.

The show dates will be today and Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. and Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $32, but discounts are available for seniors, students, military and groups of 10 or more people. Tickets are on sale at the box office located in the lobby of Thalian Hall. The box office is open Mondays through Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets also can be purchased by telephone at 910-632-2285 or online at thalianhall.org.

The story is based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The show is about Peter Pan and tells the story of how he became the boy who never grew up. It also gives the back stories of characters Tinker Bell and Captain Hook.

The theater also will be showing the film “The Beguiled” Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The film is about the the unexpected arrival of a wounded Union soldier at a girls’ school in Virginia during the American Civil War. It stars Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning.
